Getting itchy

Yesterday, we took a long ride to run a quick errand that we could have done locally, but we have both begun to suffer cabin fever.

During the last three days, we have been experiencing a nor'easter that had dropped much rain, some snow and a bit of wind in our area. We keep checking the temperatures in North Carolina and Florida, and although they are both experiencing a cold December, it's definitely warmer than here.

"G's" tooth is much improved and he has, hopefully, his last dentist appointment on Monday, the 15th. If all goes well, we could actually be on the road this time next week. The freezer has a few home-cooked meals ready for our one-night stops to make life a little less stressful for me once we stop.

We already put in our last shipment for mail to NY from MyRVmail, which is a really cool service. For anyone who travels, this is one of the best ways to forward, hold and get your mail whenever and wherever you want. They have a "virtual mailbox" that lets you see what's been received. Really cool concept. There are several companies who offer this service, but this one seemed to fit our needs best.

The next chore on our list will be to make a pile of heavy winter items that will not take the journey. Downsizing clothing seems to be our biggest challenge as I can't imagine us not needing our winter hats, gloves, scarf and coats during the months of January and February. My cousin posted a selfie on Facebook with a down jacket and wool hat! I thought we were heading to palm trees and warm sunshine.

I am starting to realize that I will miss the familiarity of this park, the local stores, restaurants, not to mention family and friends, however I'm really excited to see what is out there just waiting for us to discover!

Deep thought for the day:  The only remedy for our "itch" is the virtue called "patience." Ugh. The elusive virtue I lack. I guess I'll be scratching a lot.
