Campgrounds/Parks

Campgrounds or Parks We've Visited

  1. Croton Point Park, Croton-on-Hudson, NY - REVISED Providing W/E/S on gravel/dirt/grassy sites, in a serene, quiet throughout the week and affordable.  Park needs a LOT of TLC and upgrades with regards to trash receptacles, paving, water and electrical service. Most sites are 30 amp. Great for smaller RVs and trailers. Several big rig sites. Camped here spring and fall of 2014 as well as subsequent summers of 2015-2023. Have no choice but to stay here due to proximity to family and friends. Heard that the park will be upgrading the roads and sites - Fall of 2021. Upgrades were just so-so. No electric upgrades, which were needed. No more full timers, so less tacky than before. More rules, but not being enforced.
  2. Pine Cone Resort and Campground  - Freehold Township, NJ - Offering W/E/S, pull-thru sites. Hard-packed clay roads, wide, grassy spaces, picnic tables, fire ring and a wooden platform.  Nice shade trees and pines.  Stayed here 2014 and would stay here again.
  3. Appalachian RV Resort - Shartlesville, PA - not year-round, but allow one-night stays during closed season providing electric only. Nice place, friendly people.  Paved and gravel, fire rings, double picnic tables, W/E/S and WiFi during the regular season, Pull-through sites are narrow. Stayed here 2014 and would stay here again.
  4. Staunton-Walnut Hills Campground, Staunton, PA - A year-round facility, family run campground. Looks to be a very nice place, even in winter. There are several full-timers in 5th wheels, spaces are level and gravel, Many types of spaces to choose from, Laundry, Wi-Fi, W/E/S.  Would stay here again due to the beautiful property. Stayed here 2014.
  5. Raleigh State Fairgrounds, Raleigh, NC -  VERY difficult to find.. This was brand new in 2015, but has gone downhill since. Open year-round, open 24 hours, quiet, well-lighted, security patrols, mostly level gravel and grass sites, gravel and sand roads, W/S/E, they offer free WiFi, but we were unable to connect. No amenities. You just pull into any site and call the number at the usually empty gate house. Avoid the month of October due to the State Fair. Will definitely stay here again. Stayed here spring, fall and/or winters of 2015, 2016, 2018.
  6. Swamp Fox Campground,  Florence, SC: A Passport America endorsed park that is predominately a full-time trailer park, We were provided a nice, level, pull-through site for just $33 for the night. Full hook-up, laundry, pretty good WiFi and friendly staff. Would stay again, if need be, but not for an extended period of time. Stayed 2018.
  7. Coastal Georgia RV Resort,  Brunswick, GA:. 105 sites, paved roadways, all concrete pads, patios, picnic table, charcoal grills, pool, Bark Park, laundry, cable, wifi, full hook-ups among other choice amenities. Each site is afforded privacy from the mature Crepe Myrtle bushes dividing all the beautifully landscaped sites. Traffic from I-95 is a bit of a distraction at night and the water smells like ammonia. We moved to three different sites during our three night stay and only one was too small. We stayed here again in 2020 and it is still as lovely as ever. Perhaps the foliage has grown to deafen the sounds from I-95 as we didn't notice it last visit.
  8. Daytona Speedway KOA, Daytona, FL: This is one of the nicer RV campgrounds in the area. We are fortunate to have been in one of the few pull-thrus that boasted a gravel pad and patio area. All have small picnic tables, a park-style bench and flower pots. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are few amenities, but we don't normally need any extras. There is a laundry on premises. Would stay here again.
  9.  Elite Resorts, Citrus Valley, Clermont, FL: REVISED This was the nicest place we have stayed at - to date. We liked it so much, we purchased one of the paved RV sites. Friendly staff, a multitude of activities, pool, game nights, cook outs, dances, no age restrictions, immaculate, pristine. Will stay here again, Resided here winter of 2014 and winter and spring of 2015. UPDATE 2019: The place is going downhill. The developer sold lots just to get rid of them prior to the turn over from developer to owners. Some people are using the place as "affordable housing" and have kids living there all year who are classified as "homeless." It's a shame that the place changed from what it was originally. There is a divide among the owners and with a nice increase in value, we look forward to sell and relocate. Still here as of 2023.
  10. Savannah South KOA, Richmond Hill, GA :A nice place, right off I-95 that provided us with a huge pull-thru, full hooks up, including 50 amp electric service. Roads were all paved, generous sized gravel sites, each with a newish picnic table, amid tall pines. Level sites.. Staff are super-friendly and helpful. Laundry on premises and a swimming pool. We stayed here two nights and would stay here again. It is a bit far south of Savannah.
  11. Charlotte/Fort Mill KOA, Fort Mill, SC: We stayed here just one night and that was enough. The place appears to be under construction, which is obviously needed. Roads were full of potholes and sites were not level. Some were gravel and others were cement. The brochure shows a fenced in pool, playground, mini-golf and picnic area, however, all were in the process of being dismantled. I'm not sure if the brand new Publix Supermarket had anything to do with the disarray, but it could likely be that there was a boundary issue and that area had to go. I'd stay there again, if only for one night. It wasn't near anything to justify an extended stay. Stayed 2014.
  12. Honeybear Campground and Nature Center, Boone, NC:  The website shows beautiful, rustic sites, but we were disappointed to discover that the photos from summer cannot compare with how it looked in March, or the fact that most sites are not level. The staff was more than accommodating, allowing us to move to another site. Water availability was an issue. This is not meant for winter camping, however, there were a (very) few full-timers. Most sites are for smaller rigs and most sites do not offer full hook-ups, thus the need for a self-contained RV if anyone plans to stay here during peak season. I would stay here again only to visit family. Stayed here March 2015 and it snowed.
  13. Jonestown KOA, Jonestown, PA: Nice level sites, gravel roads, close to Hershey Park, great full-service convenience store that has fresh baked/cooked food at unbelievable prices. Full hook-ups, free wi-fi, kayak, tube and canoe rentals, warm and friendly staff. Would stay here again. Stayed here March 2015, site 89 in May 2021, October 2021 in site 85 was just okay.
  14. Oakland Valley Campground, Cuttlebackville, NY: Not big rig friendly, roads needed paving, low branches were difficult to maneuver around. Very pricey for what was offered. Empty during the week, but probably busy come weekend for fishing enthusiasts. Nice pool, sites by the Neversink River, but not big rig accessible. Store is closed during the week. Never got a chance to meet or talk to anyone while there. One night stand. Would not stay there again. 6/24/2015
  15. KOA New York City/Newburgh, Plattekill, NY:  REVISED Although nowhere near NYC, it did offer day trips into the city for a decent price. It was a nice KOA with two pools, and a wine shop called The Grape Outdoors that sells local wines. Unfortunately, it was closed on Sunday. Gravel sites with picnic table and rock fire ring. Plenty of privacy at each site, lots of tall trees that provide shade during hot summer days. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Small cafe near pool for quick lunch and ice cream. Would stay here again. July 12, 2015. UPDATE: Stayed July 2022 in an "overflow" type of area. The pool water was a greenish color. One of two pools was closed and needs work. I do not believe they offer trips into NYC anymore. The site we were in last time was rustic and nice, the site in 2020 was tight. People around us were all friendly. Chose a site with a number above 45 if you need to stay here.
  16. Gram & Pap's Fort Bellafonte Campground, Bellafonte, PA: Lovely place, Good Sam, full hook-ups with choice of 30 or 50 am service. Nice staff. Pull-through site at no extra charge to accommodate our one-night stand. 2015.
  17. Terre Haute KOA, Terre Haute, IN:   Nice, level sites. We were provided with a pull-through with full hook-ups and 50 amp service. Wonderful office staff! We were hand-delivered freshly baked cookies by the owner. Pool, laundry, playground and two donkeys! Would stay again. Pet restrictions.
  18. Mill Creek Campground, Paxico, KS: Close to I-70. Pluses: gorgeous property, great owners, full hook-ups, 50 amp service, storm shelter. Cons: very close to railroad tracks with freight trains running through every 3 hours blaring a LOUD whistle. Would stay again if necessary, only because there are not many choices in this area and the little town was adorable.
  19. Jellystone Park, Larkspur, CO: Beautiful, mountainous property. During our visit, it was near-drought conditions. Dirt roads caused much dust to constantly be an issue for allergies and breathing conditions. Park was a bit corny and pricey, but it offered cabins and was the closest to where we needed to stay. Sites were a bit narrow and very well secluded. It was almost too secluded. We couldn't even find any other campers with whom to strike up a conversation. Would probably not stay here again.
  20.  Circle The Wagons RV Park, La Veta, CO: This place turned out to be a sweet little campground with friendly staff, wide and level gravel sites, a stream running right behind our rig, and some shade trees. Located close to The Great Sand Dunes National Park. Not much else in the area, so come well-stocked. WiFi worked great, but did not get many TV stations. Office did offer free DVD rentals and a free gift. Would stay here again.
  21. Santa Rosa Campground, Santa Rosa, NM:   Located just off Route 40, on Historic Route 66, this place offered all pull-through, level, gravel sites, most with full-hook ups and free WiFi. We were lucky to have been accommodated here at all, because it was packed when we got here. Upon awaking in the morning, it looked deserted. Owner's home was located right on the property among the transient campers. Lots of security, a restaurant on premises that offered terrific smoked ribs and other BBQ fare. Some sites were very wide and some, like ours, were narrow. We didn't need much. Would stay here again.
  22. Carlsbad KOA, Carlsbad, NM: A real oasis in the middle of nowhere. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Level, gravel sites with full hook ups, great WiFi,  picnic table, grill/fire ring, cabins, wide open spaces and a bird sanctuary right on the property. Would definitely stay here again.
  23. Oak Forest RV Park, Austin, TX:  Lovely, privately owned park with wide, cement roads and pads. Full hook-ups, heated pool and hot tub, laundry, workout room. Noticed a lot of dogs, perhaps because we were near the dog park. WiFi worked well. Look for small sign at entrance...surprisingly, not that it was so small, since EVERYTHING is big in Texas.
  24. Shallow Creek Golf and RV Resort, Gladewater, TX: Very nicely paved roads and sites. Ours was not as level as most, but a couple of leveling blocks (thanks to a gift from Glenn and Joan) took care of the problem. Wide spaces, picnic table, pull through, gym, free Wi-Fi that worked great, pool and hot tub. Very affordable. Good Sam, FMCA and Passport America!  Would stay here again. 2015
  25. River Plantation RV Park, Sevierville, TN:  Paved main roads, gravel side roads,  nice check in area, friendly staff, level, gravel sites have a concrete pad for a picnic table. Full hook-ups offering 30 or 50 amp service. Good Sam park, so we received a discount on what we thought was a very reasonable rate. Some sites seem to be permanent, or full-time and have full concrete pads, planters with flowers and portable steps to 5th wheels. All sites were clean and neat. Over holiday weekend, it was wall-to-wall trailers and 5th wheels, but would stay here again.. Lots to do in the area. Great Smokey Mountains National Park, Dollywood, Zip Line and White Water Rafting tours. I want to do it all. Would stay here again, but only in an end site that offers the driver's side to be facing the road. Fire rings are WAY too close to one another. We could actually look down on top of our neighbors' heads from our window.  Stayed here May 2016
  26. Anchor Down RV Resort, Dandridge, TN:  The title, "Resort," sure lives up to its claim. This is a fairly new park 2016). All black-topped roads, full cement pads, heavy metal picnic tables, stone fire rings or fireplaces (no two the same). Young trees will eventually provide some shade, but for now. very little to be had. Sandy beach around Lake Douglas, pool with a slide, very accommodating staff. Bathhouse has private rooms. Never saw that before. Nice laundry facilities. This place was about a 20 minute drive from the Great Smoky Mountains NP,  Stayed here June 2016.
  27. Natchez Trace State Park, Belden, MS:  What a lovely State Park. We were nestled among tall pine trees and faced Trace Lake on three sides. Peaceful and serene. Plenty to do in the area. Close to Tupelo, Elvis' birthplace, and the Old Natchez Trace Trail. For only $20 a night, you get full hook-ups with 50 amp service. Most were level, gravel sites with picnic table and a rock fire ring. Only have 3 pull-thrus, but I'd rather back in closer to the lake for the spectacular view. WANT to stay here again. Stayed here June 2016.
  28. Sweetwater KOA, Sweetwater, TN: Lovely, level, gravel, pull-through, full-hook up sites. Cable, free WiFi. About 75 sites. Would stay here again. Stayed here in July, 2016
  29. Snow Shoe Park, Snow Shoe, PA:  We were offered a large pull-thru with full hook-ups. 30 amp service. Friendly staff. Great for a one night stay. Mostly full-timers, some decrepit looking. Spent a quiet night, but at $45, a little pricey for the surrounding views. Would stay here again, if necessary. Stayed here July 2016.
  30. Michigan City Campground, Michigan City, IN: Okay campground. Level sites, 30 amp service.  Sites VERY close together. Pull-through not long enough for a 37' RV and toad.  Staff was not accommodating or friendly. I booked this over the phone and explained that I wanted a pull through that could accommodate both RV and toad. We did not receive what we requested.  She told me she, personally, parked a 40" RV in that space with no problem, just disconnect and park the tow vehicle in front of the office - take it or leave it. She had no other sites to offer, so we had to "make do." This defeated our purpose of requesting and paying for a pull-through. Would not stay here again. July 2016.
  31. Oakdale KOA, Oakdale, WI:   Lovely, level, gravel, pull-through, full-hook up sites. Cable, great WiFi. Peaceful and pleasant. Would stay here again. This is the place Lucy made a liar out of me. Cats not allowed and I lied. Of all times, as we were escorted to our site, she sat on the dashboard and watched. Stayed here August 2016.
  32. Red Barn RV Park, Tea, SD: Not bad. Dirt roads, sites very close together. Pool, laundry, full hook-ups and tidy. Spotty WiFi. August 2016.
  33. Happy Holiday RV Resort, Rapid City, SD: Great location. level sites, mostly pull thrus, full hook-ups, covered picnic area with nice picnic tables, fire rings. Only down-side were the "buddy" sites, where where your awning sides faced each other. Nice if sharing with friendly people, but not so if you get rowdy neighbors. Awful WiFi. Don't know if I would call it a "resort." Would probably not stay here again, as there were so many nicer-looking campgrounds from which to choose. August 2016.
  34. Peter D's RV Campground, Sheridan, WY: Lovely little Good Sam park. It had a low Good Sam rating, but I would give it a five for what it offered us; clean, neat, gravel roads, level grass sites, pull through and full hook-ups. Very limited WiFi. The owners were friendly and more than accommodating, they even offered us garden-fresh zucchini. Stayed here August 5, 2016.
  35. Osens RV Park, Livingson, MT: Warm and welcoming staff. Lovely campground. Level, pull-thrus, full hook-ups, great WiFi. Good Sam discount. Stayed here August 6, 2016.
  36. Snake River RV Park, Idaho Falls, ID: Although located in the industrial section of town, it was along the Snake River. Sites were mostly level, dirt-gravel, full-hook-ups, and partly shaded. You are pretty close to your neighbors, but since we are sight-seeing in the area, it didn't affect us. Busy place. George didn't like that they cut the dirt/grass around Little Miss creating dust. Good Sam discount. Would stay here again if we were in the area. Stayed here August 7-10, 2016.
  37. Mountain Home RV Resort Mountain Home, ID: Wow....this has been the most exclusive place yet. Even nicer than Elite. All concrete pads with patios. Round picnic tables, small-growth trees that will eventually provide even more shade. Street lights at every site. Majority were pull-thrus. Some seasonals, but could only tell by the permanent steps and a few potted plants. Great wi-fi and pool, "hotel-style" restrooms with private showers and individual cloth bath mats. Cable TV, wide paved streets. Want to stay here again for a month. August 11, 2016.
  38. Grande Hot Springs RV Resort, La Grande, OR: Located in the middle of no-where-land on the historic Oregon Trail and about 6 miles off the interstate, along a gravel road, we were happy to find a clean, well-kelp campground. Amenities included a pool, hot tub, cable and great wi-fi,  Level, gravel and grass sites, gravel roads, and full hook-ups provided all we needed at the end of a long day. Would stay here again. August 12, 2016.
  39. Portland-Fairview RV Park, Portland, OR:  This is a Thousand Trails property, but one of the nicest I've seen so far. Very large park, cement pads, mostly pull-thru sites, full hook-ups. This is the most expensive place we've stayed thus far, probably due to the Columbia River Valley in which it is located. This place boasts all the amenities one would want, and more. Were lucky to get a one night's stay in this busy water-sport area. August 13, 2016.
  40. Lincoln City KOA, Otis, OR: This campground has been the biggest disappointment so far. All photos show large, level sites, which there were, but most of the campground is on a steep hill. This marked the first time that we had to refuse a site based upon it being unsafe to back into, and we had to shorten our stay from four nights down to just one due to availability of the site that could accommodate us. The staff were very helpful, understanding and accommodating, yet it should have been quite obvious that we could not fit our RV into the assigned space. Many sites are very close together. No pool, but plenty of water in the area, so not needed. Amenities included showers, bathrooms and laundry. WiFi was quite good. Would not stay here again. Oh, this was also the first place where a sign was posted reading: "no consumption of marijuana is permitted in any area of the park open to the view of any park camper." Stayed here August 14, 2016.
  41. Oceanside RV Resort, Charleston, OR: Very nice campground, well-kept and located on the ocean with beach access. Dunes protected the campground from the buffeting winds. Area was fogged in during our stay. Would stay here again only to be close to family. Stayed here August 15-18, 2016. We left early due to the daily fog that took long to burn off.
  42. Winchester Bay RV Resort, Salmon Harbor, Reedsport, OR:  Very nice campground located directly on Winchester Bay and the Umpqua River. We had a lakeside view and could watch the fishing boats come and go. Seagull sounds filled the air. Some fog, but it usually burned off early enough. Meticulously maintained, great laundry and bathhouse facilities. Would stay here again. Stayed here August 19-25.
  43. Diamond Lake RV Park, Diamond Lake, OR: We stayed here for three nights. Slim pickings for an RV park near Crater Lake National Park, our destination. It had minimal amenities and not much else in the area. No restaurants or supermarkets and closest Walmart was 90 miles away. The staff was not friendly or helpful. No wifi offered, no cable and no TV reception with antenna or satellite. They charged a fee rent DVDs instead of offering them free. Some roads paved. Located in a forest, which was cozy, but too desolate for us.  Come fully stocked. August 26-28, 2016
  44. Walmart, Winnemucca, NV:  I decided to start including the Walmart stays in case we are ever in the area again. We stayed here August 29, 2016. Large, busy RV and tractor-trailer gathering place. Would stay here again.
  45. Wendover KOA, West Wendover, NV: Overpriced campground due to nothing but casinos on the border of Nevada and Utah. Dirt roads and, like campground above, not much of anything in the area. We were lucky to get one of the few 50 amp sites for the 90 degree temps we endured. There is no other city to stay in before crossing over into Utah and the straight 80 miles of Salt Lake Dessert - a Pilot Station close to the campground was a necessity and welcome site - so we gassed up before heading eastward. August 30, 2016
  46. Springville/Provo KOA, Springville, UT:  Very nice KOA. Pool, laundry, bath house, full hook-ups with 50 amp service. Lots to do and see in the area. Plenty of shopping. Nice staff. Would stay here again. 2016
  47. Grand Junction KOA, Grand Junction, CO: Large, gravel sites, brick pavers, fire pits and nice picnic table, full hook-ups, most are pull-thrus. Not located in the best or most convenient area, but nice and clean. We stayed over the Labor Day Weekend which draws lots of families with kids and DOGS. Would stay here again. September 3-6.
  48. Dakota Ridge RV Resort, Golden, CO: Very pretty resort with about 150 sites. Rated a 10 by Good Sam and they claim to be Colorado's #1 Park. We were given a sloping site that was impossible to level and located at the edge of a busy highway. When large vehicles sped by, the RV rocked a bit. Full hook-ups, 50 amp, cement pads, grassy areas and many rules, most of which didn't apply to the owners of a cat. Request a site in the center of the park,
  49. Colorado Heights, Monument, CO: Woody, dirt sites with full hook-ups and 50-amp. Mostly paved roads. Large laundry facilities. Playground and game room for kids.  Member of Passport America. Would stay here again. Stayed here September 8-18, 2016.
  50. Walmart, Hayes, KS: Very nice, level and large lot. We spent a quiet night except for the RV who pulled next to us and ran generator all night. Would stay here again. September 19, 2016.
  51. Deer Creek Valley RV Park, Topeka, KS:  A lovely Good Sam park with all cement roads and pull-thru pads, Immaculate grounds, office, pool and grounds. Would stay here again. $39.60 per night w/GS discount. Stayed here September 20, 2016.
  52. Walmart, Hannibal, MO:
  53. Walmart, Strongsville, OH: Almost got blocked in by cars, but was able to get out. Need to get there early to get a good space. Other tractor trailers in the lot, even though signs posted for no TT overnight parking. Called store and was told no problem.
  54. Walmart, Clearfiesld, PA:  Perfect place to spend the night. Huge parking lot, quiet and not crowded. Located on top of a hill with a view of I-80 in the distance. Spoke to manager who said we could stay as long as we liked.
  55. Cayuga State Park, Seneca Falls, NY: Lovely park that provided just water and 30 amps of electric. Clean showers, picnic table, fire ring and well maintained grounds. A far cry from Croton Point Park. For only $21 per night, it was well worth the visit. Stayed here August 2018
  56. Niagara Falls North- Lewiston/KOA, Youngstown, NY:  This was a very nice park that provided us with full hook ups, including 50 amps, a pull through site, fire ring and picnic table. WiFi was very good up by the office. Laundry provided an inexpensive way for me to get caught up on a few days of laundry on a rainy day. Stayed here August 2018
  57. Letchworth State Park, Castile, NY:  Beautiful State Park with 30 amp electric only, fire ring and picnic table. Huge site #311 located in Loop 300. Clean bathrooms and well-kept property. Loop 700 permits pets and had paved roads and new bathrooms that George even showered in! If we stayed in Loop 300 again we would opt for the outer sites located closer to the exit of the loop. They were wide open to a huge field. Stayed here August 2018.
  58. Cool-Lea Campground, Odessa, NY: Very nice private park located right on Cayuta Lake. The campground offered full hook-ups, including cement patio, fire rings, and brand new picnic tables. Property kept very well. Very close to Watkins Glen, wineries and Finger Lakes. Several restaurants nearby. No cell service and WiFi only worked near office. Stayed here August 2018.
  59. King Phillips Campground, Lake George, NY: This campground was full of "Seasonal" campers," was close to the Lake George "strip," and offered full hook-ups with either 30 or 50 amps. We needed to request to have our site changed, because we couldn't get out RV into the site originally booked for us. No problem. We ended up in a huge site that offered lots of privacy. No cell service and no WiFi signal. Stayed here August 2018
  60. Catskill Adventure Resort, Wurtsboro, NY: Full hook-ups, large, wide-open area to accommodate bigger rigs on grassy sites. Pool, covered pavilion area, fire wood, camp store. The owner went out of his way to make our group feel welcomed and appreciated. Our "rally price" affordable and included two breakfasts and a turkey dinner.  Love when there is a restaurant on premises, but I believe it's normally weekend only breakfasts. Stayed here in 2017 and 2018. UPDATE: property sold to new owners. Now called Catskill RV Park.
  61. Walmart, Walterboro, SC: We had stayed here once before and wanted to document it since it is a great stopping point from the Raleigh State Fairgrounds and our Florida home. Large, level lot, close proximity to restaurants. Safe location.
  62. Flying J , Florence, SC. This was our first time at a Flying J and would definitely try another. We didn't fit in any of the designated RV spots as they were too short with a toad. We found a spot along a curb and actually put both slides out and slept pretty well.  Either it quieted down after midnight or I slept through the noise.
  63. Georgia Welcome Area-I-95 Southbound: It was the day after Christmas and we experienced a lot of traffic the entire stretch of South Carolina. This stop was very noisy, but we were too tired to go further. We got very little sleep. We were able to put the bedroom slide out, but won't ever plan to stay there or that way again. 2016
  64. Quechee/Pine Valley KOA, White River Junction, VT: Very nice KOA, clean and well kept. A rare coincidence, the work campers knew neighbors of ours from Elite Resort. What are the chances????? It is conveniently located to many interesting sights to see. Only complaint is the weak cell service (not KOA's fault) and the hillside our RV was perched on. Stayed here August 2019.
  65. Alpine Lake RV Resort, Corinth, NY: This was a terrific location to visit Lake George, Lake Luzurne, Saratoga Springs and more. We stayed on the lake and had a beautiful side-view of the lights reflecting of the water from the other side. We camped here with members of The Hudson Islanders in August, 2019. Returned for five lovely nights in August 2022
  66. Oak Haven Campground, Wales, MA: This campground offered a large, level open field. It's only downside was the sewer system. Not sure I'd stay here again, but it provided all we needed for a three night stay in August 2019.
  67. Saco/Old Orchard Beach, KOA, North Stonington, ME: This was an upper-scale KOA that provided a pretty cement patio with Adirondeck furniture and fire pit. We arrived after a deluge of rain and the road behind us flooded. Staff pumped out most, and time took care of the rest. Immaculate bathroom. Plenty for kids to do, but we used no amenities. Would stay here again. We stayed August 2019.
  68. Mt. Dessert Narrows Camping Resort, Bar Harbor, ME, This was anything BUT a resort. It was a pricey campground, but it provided us with a pretty level place to park, so we could explore all there is to see in the area. Great location to visit Acadia and Bar Harbor. Stayed here August 2019.
  69. Megunticook Campground by the Sea, Rockport, ME: What a diamond in the rough. This campground was close to so many towns that we wanted to visit, like Camden, Rockport and Rockland, to name a few. We had a gravel pull-thru and a large, party shady site. Full hook ups and a great price. Owners super-helpful and friendly. I would stay here again to support the owners. Stayed here August 2019.
  70. Wolfeboro Campground, Wolfeboro, NH This is a rustic campground. The owner was an interesting fellow who explained that he and his father carved out the entire campground from scratch back in the 1970's. This is best for rigs smaller than our 37' unless you don't mind branches touching your coach on the way in and out. Our site was the largest we've ever stayed in and had a hand-built fire place. The owner has put a lot of blood. sweat and tears into this place. I'd stay here again to support him.  Stayed August 2019.
  71. Meadowlark Campground, Middletown, RI: This was an interesting campground. RVs very close together, both back-to-back and side to side. Would stay here again, regardless that we had a bit of difficulty leveling. Close to the beach and Newport. Recently sold, so not sure of its future. Hoping it stays a campground with some improvements. Stayed here Labor Day weekend, August-September 2019.
  72. Walmart MD???
  73. Walmart VA???
  74. Raleigh Oaks RV Resort, Four Oaks, NC: Very nice park off exit 90 of I-95. Pricey, but many amenities. Unfortunately, it's an hour commute to my son's home in Wake Forest. There is another campground across the street, RV Vacation (exit 100 off I-95 NB) basic offerings, but neat and clean will try to book there next time. Stayed October 2019. Stayed again in 2020 when heading back north on I-95.
  75. Walmart, Brunswick, GA: Crowded, but comfortable. Many RVs, TTs and Semis.
  76. Bay Bayou RV Resort, Tampa, FL: Great place to stay. Neat, clean and spacious lots. Only minutes to my grandkids and less than 45 minutes to Clearwater Beach. Lots of restaurants and shopping in the vicinity. Stayed here July 2020.
  77. Santee/Santee Lakes KOA: Summerton, SC: Just so-so for George. Dirt roads, dusty. All pull-thru sites as typical of most KOA's, but would seek a different campground if ever in that area again. Stated August 2020
  78. Richmond North/Kings Dominion KOA, Doswell, VA: Expensive, loads of amenities. Great for families. Park was crowded even during the CoVid outbreak. Next to theme park. Nice paved lots, clean and neat. Lots of cabins. Stayed here August 2020
  79. Philladelphia South/Clarksboro KOA: Clarksboro, NJ:  Sites were dirt/gravel and very close together. We would only stay here again if absolutely necessary. Stayed August 2020.
  80. Cracker Barrel, Elkton, MD. We've stayed here before and it has one of the best RV sections. There is a whole separate parking lot just for tractor trailers and RVs.  We were among others looking for a safe haven for the night. Some spots need levelers, but we pulled along the perimeter and put out two slides and managed fine. Stayed here August and October 2020.
  81. Americamps RV Resort, Ashland, VA: A little pricey, but worth it to have a big-rig friendly place to call home for a night (or more) located close to I-95. gravel sites, well kept and nicely landscaped entry. Friendly staff and wonderful Greeter, Daisy, a 13" or so beagle who let me play with her while completing the check in process.  Large and well-spaced sites throughout. Many seasonal sites, but without the "seasonal" look. Stayed here pre-peak foliage season in October 2020. Would stay here again. Open year round. $61 with GS discount. Stayed here again on trip north in site 20, May 2021.
  82. https://palmettoshoresrvresort.com/ Leave it to say, "never again." After answering 15 questions about our RV before making the reservation, we get here and we’re placed in a narrow, tree-filled forest-like site. No sunlight, dirt roads, tight space. Had to have tree branches cut down so we could pull out of site in the morning. Thank goodness only one night. Staff was accommodating, though.  Stayed November 2020.
  83. Beverly Beach, FL: OMG! The tightest campground yet, but I could live there. We camped facing the Atlantic. We heard the constant rolling of the waves, smelled the salty air and enjoyed walking along the beach. Slides almost touched each other, you could hand a bottle of ketchup to the RV on either side, but it was heaven for me. Everyone was nice and friendly. Pricey, but a great getaway for a special occasion or for just some R&R. Lots of bar/restaurants, but mostly filled with younger folks. We did have a nice selection of restaurants to choose from. We stayed here for only two days in May 2021. Can't wait to return.
  84. Savannah Oaks RV Resort Savannah, GA: Not a resort! Terrible campground, especially for a big rig. No wifi or much cell service. This was supposed to be a two-night stay, but we up and left the next morning. Stayed here May 2021.
  85. Lumberton/I-95 KOA Lumberton, NC: Nice KOA. Would stay here again. We were in site 9, but there were many sites larger and wider. Adorable cabins. Stayed here May 2021
  86. Waynesboro North RV Park: Waynesboro, VA- good for a one-night stand, rustic with gravel roads and sites. Would stay here again, Stayed here October 2021
  87. The Resort at Carolina Crossroads, VA:  415 Wallace Fork Rd. Roanoke Rapids. Big rig friendly Nice gravel sights with plenty of room. Only stayed one night in October 2021.
  88. Fayetteville RV Resort: Very nice place, big rig friendly, wide-open spaces, Would stay here again. Stayed two nights in site 11 in October and drinks2021.
  89. Lakewood Camping Resort: LOVED this place. Be careful when booking as the campground is HUGE. You want to be within walking distance to the ocean. Big rig friendly, but sites are small. Stayed in site 1409 for a week in October 2021 and would definitely return.
  90. Myrtle Beach Travel Park I would rate this second to Lakewood. Beach was much more crowded, less access points to beach and more expensive and dusty. Dirt roads in a dry spell were awful.
  91. Camp Lake Jasper: Hardeeville, SC: Very nice stay, Big rig friendly, good roads, wide sites. Stayed here October 2021 and would stay again.
  92. Stagecoach RV Park: St. Augustine, FL. Immaculate park. mostly pull thru sites. Stayed here October 2021 and plan to stay here again when heading north on I-95.
  93. The Tides RV Resort: A beautiful resort. Will be converting to seasonal stays only after 2022.  Stayed in site 124 in Januray 2022.
  94. Everglade Isle Motor Coach Retreat: A true luxury resort. Class A only. Beautiful, stone paved lots, casitas, Tiki bars, food and drink on premises, Elegant from start to finish. Stayed in site 124 in Januray 2022. Expensive, but worth it. It's "young," but will only improve with time.
  95. St. Petersburg/Madeira Beach, KOA: Pricey, but a fun place full of seasonal campers and park models. Lots of entertainment and nice people. They were in the process of renovations. Stayed here January 2022 for my aunt's 80th birthday. Would stay here again.
  96. Lake Park RV & Campground, Lake Park, GA: If I listed all the pros and cons, the pros column would be very short. The cons included: Narrow roads, sharp turns, low-hanging trees, narrow blacktopped sites, noise from I75 that actually lessened during the night, swans and ducks squawking between 2 am and 4 am.  Woke up to the sound of goats bleating - that was sweet, except they never stopped during the daylight hours. Overpriced for what we got. Would not return. Grateful only a one-nighter. Stayed May 2022.
  97. Forsyth KOA Journey, Forsyth, GA: A cute, rustic KOA close to the Florida line. We were close to a lake and penned up goats. Lots of ducks also. Unfortunately, we picked up a tree frog, that traveled the entire trip up to NY. Tree frogs sound like quacking ducks and it was a confusing annoyance, since we could not figure out where it was. One night stay in May 2022.
  98. Racoon Mountain Caverns & Campground, Chattanooga, TN: Great stop, almost all pull throughs, gravel roads and Item 4 sites. Clean restrooms, laundry and cute store. Historic area. Caves on premises, but were closed at the time. Ruby Falls close by as well as other historic sites. Worth a stop here again, Stayed May 2022.
  99. Two Rivers Campground, Nashville, TN; Great location to visit all the area attractions, however, there are several other RV parks to choose from. Price seemed fair. Went with our RV group, May 2022. Would stay here again.
  100. Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg KOA: Very nice KOA. Many things to do in the area and in the campground. More amenities than what we required, so would try to stay in a less expensive place or only stay during the week. This was $110 per night for the weekend in May, 2022.
  101. Wytheville KOA, Wytheville, VA: Terrible entrance into a lovely campground. During our visit, they were in the middle of upgrades including additional pull-through sites with cement patios. We did need blocks to level. Gravel roads and sites. Stayed here May 2022.
  102. Harrisonburg/Shenandoah Valley KOA, Broadway, VA: Long pull-throughs with full h/u. Pricey. Stayed here May 2022.
  103. North Stonington KOA, MA:  Had planned to stay here over the July 4th weekend, but ended up getting kicked out. We went with nephew, Jack. Electrical power was not putting out enough amperage to run Big Bertha, so we requested to run our generator, as needed, since it was 91 degrees late in the afternoon. We were told "no" and we had 15 minutes to get out on a holiday weekend! Absurd. Would not recommend. Staff was rude, impatient and mean. July 2022.
  104. Mystic Conneticut KOA, Stonington, CT:  We were lucky to find an opening at this KOA after being kicked out of the last place. We could tell why. The temps were in the 90's and the pool was not in service. We made the best of the time visiting Mystic with eight-year-old Jack. July 2022.
  105. Aces High RV Park, East Lyme, CT: Best place we've stayed at in a long time. Should be called a resort. Open all year. Many places to visit in the area. Very pricey, but location-location. Stayed here August 2022.
  106. Cape Ann Campground, Gloustashire, MA: Great location, but sites were difficult for large rigs. We had to pull up and back up multiple times to get into the site. Located on a steep hill, you can't drive up to office to check in, you need to call as soon as you enter. We were in the very  site (56) by the road, but the noise wasn't too bad. Again, location, location. The grounds do not warrant the cost. Tight sites. Old hook ups that looked sketchy.  Couldn't beat the view or the proximity to town.
  107. Pine Lake RV Resort and Cottages, Sturbridge, MA: This place should be called a resort. Beautifully landscaped park, full h/u, close to lots of interesting places and great restaurants. Would stay here again. Stayed August 2022.
  108. Big Pine Key, Cove Oceanfront Park, Big Pine Key, FL. This is one of the more affordable parks in the Keys. We’ve been there twice in 2023 and plan to return. Great location. Some sites very difficult to get into, but they have can park your fifth wheel or for you. We try to get a site on the canal, more expensive, but a lot roomier for a big rig. Other campers are return visitors and are very friendly.  Located at mile marker 33, so just far away from Key West. Lots of great restaurants/fish shacks.  My favorite location so far.  Christmas 2022 and April 2023.
  109. PA-HARVEST HOSTS: Red Rock BBQ and 2 Dogz and a Guy Brewery. Susquehanna, PA. Great beer good bbq. Try to book for a weekend. Live music and lots of friendly locals. Highly recommend. Stayed July 21 and 23.
