About Us

I would like to introduce myself and provide a little background information. I'm Vicki Carrozza (vcarozza@gmail.com).

My husband, George, and I retired in 2014 and 2011 (respectively), got married in 2013 and then decided to buy a RV to travel the US with our cat, Lucy.

The decision to "full-time" was an easy one for us to make after our first few outings. The difficult task of loading and unloading it each weekend, then driving 40 minutes each way to pick up and drop off to the storage facility became a hassle, so we decided to load it up with all we would need. We then sold, donated or threw out the rest of our belongings. I had a much easier time performing that task than did George, but I give him credit for living with less, yet having so much more.

Lucy began the journey with us and was a terrific travel companion. She lived to the ripe old age of 18 before facing serious health issues in April of 2020. Her loss was bigger than we could have imagined..

It didn't take me long to feel the vast emptiness without our sweet Lucy, and I didn't think she would mind us giving another kitty a loving home, so shortly after we lost Lucy, we permitted Stella Bella to take over our lives. Stella was 9’ish years old when we adopted her and most of her life was lonely and frightening. Once I found out she had been caged for five years, my decision was made without hesitation. This cat deserved better. It was amazing watching her morph from an Alabama stray into a lavish lap cat who loves to play with toy mice and look out the windows. She's finally becoming used to life on the road, bumps and all.

I always get asked the question about how can you live in such a small space with your spouse. Well, the best answer I have come up with is, "You not only need to love the one you're with, you need to LIKE them quite a bit too.

The last bit of information I'd like to share is about myself is that since the age of 17 I have been a Type I diabetic. I have faced many challenges as I battle this disease. It necessitated me taking up quite a bit of space storing all the medical supplies needed to manage Mathis monster. Mail order pharmacy has been a life-saver as my medicines and supplies can be shipped to wherever we happen to be.

I decided to create this blog, because I find that we remember the bad things more vividly than we do the fun times. For example, I can remember when we lost a windshield wiper, but unless I read back in my blogs, I'll forget that we visited Wall Drugs in South Dakota, the details of Carlsbad Caverns in NM or the people we meet along the way.

On another page, I have documented all the campgrounds and many of the Walmart's, Cracker Barrel’s, and now Harvest Hosts that we have stayed or spent the night. It's as much a benefit for me when planning future trips and my comments may help you decide whether to stay there or not.

To all who read this, I wish you good health, much happiness and safe travels.

Lucy
